Student Tutor 2014 – 2015
San Diego Area, Varsity Tutoring
Provided math and science tutoring to high school and college students using a range of pedagogical styles.
Graduate Student 2011 – 2014
Molecular and Experimental Medicine, Molecular Biology, Chemical Physiology, and Cell and Molecular Biology Departments, The Scripps Research Institute
Designed and performed experiments to study a variety of cancers. Presented literature and original research regularly in group meetings and departmental seminars. Participated in the WASC Curriculum Committee, Student Sustainability Initiative, Network for Women in Science, San Diego Quest, and the LSSI High School program.
Student Worker and Manager 2007 – 2011
Dining Services, Boston University

Trained new employees on sustainability procedures as designated Green Team liaison. Exceeded expectations for composting and recycling targets.
Undergraduate Researcher 2009 – 2011
Biology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, Boston University
Developed a new amplification and sequencing protocol for the human aldolase B gene to aid in hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) diagnosis. This protocol successfully identified a novel variation in one clinical sample which is a putative mutation. Mentored a master’s student in a related project.
Research Assistant 2009
Hematology and Oncology Section, Medicine Department, Boston Medical Center
Characterized the tissue-specific expression of CK2 protein in several related knock-out mouse lines. Worked closely with another research assistant to effectively process dozens of specimens.
Research Assistant 2008
Biology Department, Bates College
Investigated the effect of environmental arsenic on pregnant mice and offspring. Analyzed mouse blood pressure data with Microsoft Excel and summarized methods and results for the group.
